Reflection on Al-Qadr 97:4 — Qur'an Meezan
تَنَزَّلُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِم مِّن كُلِّ أَمْرٍ
The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter.
Surah Al-Qadr 97:4
Question
Jibril himself descends on this night, something that happens only once a year — you have named the things you want from this Ramadan, but have you named what you are willing to give up tonight to receive them?
Reflection
That verse reveals a stunning inversion: the cosmos bends down with every matter, yet our reception hinges on what we empty out. The “permission” they descend with is mirrored by our own surrender — what we release is the capacity we create.
So I must ask: when you consider what to give up, is it primarily a tangible distraction, or something more intrinsic, like your need to control how the blessings arrive?
